China Boleh in Olympics 2008

Yesterday was the Olympics Opening Ceremony in Beijing. 8 pm, on 8th August, 2008. If you think that was a coincidence, you couldn't be more wrong. China had planned it that way, because the number 8 means prosperity to the Chinese. So, here, what we have is a most auspicious date and time.......eight-eight-eight-eight.

But whoa, hold on a second. There are 4 eights here. The number 4 represents death. So, is it good or bad? Good, because you prosper till death. What could be better than that?! ;)

The show opened with a big bang, and is so much better than the 2004 Olympics Opening Ceremony in Athens. In fact, I would even stick my neck out and declare it the greatest ever Opening Ceremony in the history of Olympics. Never before had I seen such a spectacular show put on at an Opening Ceremony.

It showed China from the historical days of Confucius to the present, modern China. And it was done with a lot of fanfare and pomp. I was oohing and aahing away. Or is it because I'm a biased, ardent fan of Mr. Zhang Yi Mou, the much acclaimed Chinese filmmaker and cinematographer?

Anyway..........
China Boleh!!!
